date

date (variable)

A date (YYYYMMDD or YYMMDD)

Declared as: long

Description: A date in either the form YYYYMMDD or YYMMDD where Y is a year digit, M is a month digit, and D is a day digit. Most routines in the TIPS library do not use dates in this form; rather, they use dates as three separate variables representing a month, day, and year, respectively. The routine breakup_date can be used to convert a date in the form YYYYMMDD or YYMMDD into three separate month, day, and year variables.

Valid values:
Any legitimate date with a 4 digit or 2 digit year.
